Rich went through a difficult time early in his life where he made mistakes and felt rejected and unloved by the church. He was distant from God, but would still call himself a Christian even though he wasn’t committed.

30 years later, at some point, in the start of April 2022, Rich ended up in the ER with shortness of breath. Rich had a tumor in his chest about the size of a hand and it was choking him. He had some tumors elsewhere as well. The doctors told him this was a very aggressive, deadly form of cancer.

He drove home from the hospital in the middle of the night feeling alone and scared to death. He didn’t know what to do other than to turn to God, and so he said “let’s see what’s in his Word.” One of the first verses he saw was Psalm 118 — I shall not die but live and proclaim what the Lord has done.

That was hard to hang on to — but he did. He clung to that. He became more engaged in the Word through the Bible App, and started a folder called “God Speaks” that helped him through recovery.

He went through a pretty intense time, but God was faithful and healed him completely. He’s now 6 months away from a 2-year mark of complete healing.

Now, Rich starts every day now in the Bible App. He goes through the Verse of the Day and Guided Scripture, Guided Prayer. He can’t live without it. He’s gone through the entire Bible for the first time and he’s doing it again — it helps him be disciplined to stay in His Word.
