105. Posts: Your Weekday Church Connection

Posts help you communicate with your church throughout the week. They’re short, Scripture-focused updates that help you extend your discipleship beyond Sunday mornings. You’ll create Posts in YouVersion Connect, and your church will see them directly on your Church Page and on their Home experience.

Bringing Posts into your weekly rhythm can help you reinforce sermon content, provide a discussion starter and Scripture focus for small groups, and understand what resonates through data.

How Churches Use This

Posts are meant to serve your church and grow with you as you expand your discipleship efforts. To start, publish one Post a week that is connected to your Sunday sermon. Include a key Scripture and a reflection or encouragement.

Then, post two or three times a week with a pre-service teaser, sermon recap, and midweek encouragement. Use these moments to prompt discussions in small groups or families.

Finally, create a content calendar that aligns Posts with Featured Plans and your sermon series. Assign Post creation to team members for different ministry areas (youth, worship, etc.). Check data to see which resonate the most and use that to refine your approach.

Specific use cases include:

  • Weekend teaching extension. You preach on Psalm 23. On Monday, you publish a Post with the key verse and a reflection question. On Wednesday, you share a deeper dive into one phrase. By the time Sunday arrives again, your church has spent the week reflecting on that passage.

  • Small group fuel. Your small groups are studying Romans. You publish a midweek Post with that week’s passage and a discussion question, giving leaders a ready-made conversation starter.

  • Seasonal celebrations. During Advent, you publish daily Posts with a verse and reflection question from your church’s Advent Plan. Each Post points people back to the Plan and creates a cohesive experience.

Grace Bible Church in College Station, TX says this about their Posts strategy: “Our YouVersion posts are their own ‘one-of-one’ content—not copied from social. We treat them like a devotional moment unique to our church’s YouVersion followers.”

Operational Guidance

  • Who owns this? Editors or Owners can create Posts. Typically this could be a communications director, digital ministry lead, or a trusted volunteer.
  • Frequency: minimum once a week, ideally two or three times per week.
  • Time: 15-20 minutes to draft your Post, then schedule or publish it.

Best Practices

  • Batch your Posts. Draft your Posts for the week in one sitting and use the scheduling feature so they post automatically.
  • Always anchor to Scripture. Every Post should include or reference a verse.
  • Create a rhythm and stick with it. If you post every Monday and Wednesday, your church will start to look forward to it.
  • Connect Posts to the bigger picture. Every Post should relate to your sermon series, Featured Plan, or ministry season.
