Why Your Church’s Bible App Presence Matters at the Start of the Year

Jan 13, 2026

January carries a unique spiritual weight.

As a new year begins, people are more reflective, more open, and more likely to return to Scripture. For many, that journey starts not with a church building, but with the Bible App.

When someone opens the Bible App searching for God’s Word, they may also be searching—quietly—for a church they can trust. In that moment, your church’s presence matters.

January Is a Moment of Discovery

People don’t open the Bible App casually at the start of the year. January often marks a reset—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Many people are rebuilding their rhythms, revisiting their faith, or taking a first step toward reengaging with the church.

That means discovery in January is different. It’s intentional. And it often happens before someone attends a service in person for the first time.

What are people seeing when they find your page in the Bible App?

Your Church Profile Is Often the First Impression

When someone finds your church in the Bible App, your Church Profile becomes their first interaction with your ministry. It answers questions they may not be ready to ask out loud yet:

Is this church active?

Can I trust this information?

Would I feel welcome here?

A well-crafted, accurate profile conveys care and credibility in an environment where clarity is crucial.

A Simple January Reset

Starting the year strong doesn’t require a complete overhaul. A few thoughtful updates can make a meaningful difference.

January is an excellent time to:

  • Confirm your service times and location
  • Upload a clear, recognizable logo
  • Feature one Reading Plan that fits the season
  • View your profile through the lens of hospitality, not promotion

Simplicity builds confidence. One clear next step is often more inviting than many options.

A clean and accurate Church profile with a description, Pastor, Address and Featured Plan communicates to people that you are organized and have resources for them.

A Small Step That Matters

Set aside ten minutes this week to review your Church Profile. Think of it through the lens of someone stumbling upon your Church page for the very first time, and that they have never heard of your church. What questions would they have? What’s the first thing they would look for? Those few minutes can shape how someone experiences your church during a meaningful moment in their spiritual journey.

A few pro tips that WORK:
  • Create a Post that details why you are featuring a specific plan and keep it up for a few days.
  • Posts was created for flexibility, so experiment with the content you add, the times you post, and even CTA’s in the post, such as a link to a Plan with Friends or sending them to the Event in the Bible App with your sermon notes, making it easier to find!
  • Add a YouVersion-specific landing page or create a Linktree that answers the top questions someone would have coming from the Bible App, making it easy to take the next step. Add that into your URL instead of the regular website.
  • Put real thought into your description - you don’t want this to be cookie-cutter or feel like every other church. What makes you unique, or what is the heartbeat of your church?
