January’s Publishing Tip

Every day, millions of people open the Bible App because they want to understand God’s Word. We want to help you serve them well, which is why we’ll be sharing one publishing tip each month in 2026. Our tip for January is simple: anchor your content in Scripture.

This may seem obvious, but you may be surprised by how much this intentional choice can help serve app users. Every person who opens the Bible App comes from a different background and brings different motivations, but they share a similar goal: to engage with truth. God’s Word continues to meet people where they are, offering clarity, hope, and direction.

The data is clear: people want to understand scripture. In a crowded digital space, users aren’t just looking for clever words; they’re seeking life-changing truth. This is one reason Bible Plans that include multiple Scripture references tend to see higher completion rates than those that don’t.

Whatever your style of ministry (commentary, teaching, relational, or something else), you’ll better serve app users when each day of a Plan is centered on Scripture. This is why we strive to Feature Bible Plans that include multiple Scripture references per day and why we look for content that helps the YouVersion Community take a meaningful journey through God’s Word.

Here are a few ways to anchor your Bible Plans in Scripture:

  • Include 2-4 scriptures per day of the Bible Plan
  • Help readers understand what the Scripture is communicating, rather than using Scripture only to support your point
  • Consider a consistent scriptural theme throughout the Plan, rather than standalone references

This doesn’t mean users want fewer topical Plans. It means they want to see what they’re experiencing reflected and addressed in Scripture.

As you plan new content or revisit existing Bible Plans, consider how Scripture can play a central role in guiding each Plan Day. Thank you for helping us reach everyone, everywhere, every day with God’s Word.
