From Deployment to the Pulpit: How the Bible App Anchored One Soldier’s Faith

"Our daily Plans in the Bible App and the Holy Spirit’s gentle reminders kept me anchored."
Before he found the Bible App, his faith was more about the words. “I said I was a believer,” he reflects, “but I was not actively living out my faith or reading God's Word.” That changed through the quiet daily practice of reading, highlighting, taking notes, and sending prayers back and forth with a close friend through the Community feed in the Bible App.
When deployment came, it brought the kind of uncertainty that tests faith at its roots. He was newly married, separated from his wife for over nine months, and facing questions he couldn’t answer. But God’s Word sustained him. “Our daily Plans in the Bible App and the Holy Spirit’s gentle reminders kept me anchored,” he says. On Sundays during chapel services, the Scripture his chaplain shared would echo the very passages he’d been reading in his Plan that week. He even achieved his longest Bible-reading Streak during that deployment.
He left the service after COVID and answered the call to pastor a church in western Kansas. The Bible App came with him. When his previous congregation lost three high schoolers in a single fall, it was Bible Plans he’d completed multiple times that showed him how to minister to teenagers facing loss. “These Plans have also strengthened my leadership, guiding me to view God's redemptive plan within His grand scheme of control and grace,” he reflects.
The tools that anchored a soldier’s faith during deployment became the tools that shaped a pastor’s ministry. That’s what happens when Scripture engagement takes root—not in a single dramatic moment, but through a thousand quiet ones, day after day.
